چکیده

Genetic divergence study is imperative in breeding programmes order to select distant parents. Forty maize inbred lines were assessed using morphometric markers identify the potential for yield and its component traits. The raised α-RBD design replicated twice during kharif 2019. morphological diversity analysis was done as per standard statistical procedures Mahalanobis D2-statistic. Analysis of variance revealed significant mean sum squares due genotypes all traits suggesting ample amount genetic variability present among them. Moderate PCV, GCV high heritability coupled with moderate advance observed grain plant, plant cob placement height. Grain exhibited positive correlation except days 50 cent pollen shed silking. Path direct effects shed, harvest index, grains row 100 grain-weight on therefore these would be best selection indices yielding genotypes. D2-statistics grouped 40 into three clusters. Cluster III has highest cluster values traits.Seven viz., 4186-4-05-1-1, LM-14, BAJIM-08-27, BIOM 10, LQPM24×1114-5, 9180-2, LDH 5(Vivek-21-1) superior over check basis performance disease resistance diverse therefore, could used improvement program.

Genetic Diversity in Maize (Zea mays L.) Inbred Lines

Thirty yellow inbred lines of normal maize were evaluated for thirteen parameters at the experimental field of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University during 2010-11 to study the genetic divergence using multivariate analysis. The thirty inbreds fell into six distinct clusters. The intra-cluster distances in all the six clusters were more or less low, indicating that the genotyp...

Mapping quantitative trait loci using naturally occurring genetic variance among commercial inbred lines of maize (Zea mays L.).

Many commercial inbred lines are available in crops. A large amount of genetic variation is preserved among these lines. The genealogical history of the inbred lines is usually well documented. However, quantitative trait loci (QTL) responsible for the genetic variances among the lines are largely unexplored due to lack of statistical methods. In this study, we show that the pedigree informatio...

Maize (Zea mays L.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

IDENTIFICATION OF GENETIC CHARACTERISTICS OF MAIZE (Zea mays L.) USING GENETIC MARKERS

Different genetic markers are used for estimation of breeding material, its characteristics and potential for ultimate aim — heterosis of hybrids. They also point out to the qualitative seed traits at the level of linkage with genes responsible for desirable agronomic traits. This program encompasses testing methodologies for the new seed technology. Genetic analysis of breeding material during...

QTL Mapping of Agronomic Waterlogging Tolerance Using Recombinant Inbred Lines Derived from Tropical Maize (Zea mays L) Germplasm

Waterlogging is an important abiotic stress constraint that causes significant yield losses in maize grown throughout south and south-east Asia due to erratic rainfall patterns. The most economic option to offset the damage caused by waterlogging is to genetically incorporate tolerance in cultivars that are grown widely in the target agro-ecologies. We assessed the genetic variation in a popula...
